Our Story

Superb Spine started with a complaint we kept hearing from the same people, over and over: I just can't get comfortable.

Nothing dramatic. Friends, family, people at work — all side sleepers, all waking up stiff, all quietly resigned to mornings feeling that way.

So we looked at what was actually going on. Sleep on your side and there's a gap between your shoulder and your head. A few centimetres of empty space that a flat pillow can't fill. Your head drops into it. Your neck holds that angle for eight hours. Then you get up and wonder why you feel the way you do.

It's a geometry problem. And geometry problems have geometry answers.

The first prototype was ugly. So was the fourth. We changed one thing at a time — the height of the contour, the density of the foam, the angle of the shoulder cutout — and slept on every version until we could tell them apart with our eyes closed. We measured each one against the pillow people already owned, because that's the only comparison that counts.

What came out of it is the SuperbSpine Side-Sleeper Pillow: contoured to fill the gap, in foam dense enough to be the same shape at six in the morning as it was at ten at night. Then came the knee pillow, for the other half of it — the top leg that slides forward and drags your hips out of line while you sleep.

Over 29,000 have gone out to side sleepers in the UK. The reviews are on the product pages — the good ones, and the ones that told us what to fix next.

We're not selling you a lifestyle. We make a couple of things, we make them for people who sleep on their side, and we'd rather get those right than fill a catalogue.
